It was mid-morning in the Labyrinth. The entrance was quiet, perhaps due to the presence of the Mythraegalian Guard stationed in the first large clearing. There were only four guards, sure, one to guard each pathway, but it would be a fair assumption to guess that they scared off the monsters so far. Past the guards however, one could not tell what explorers might run into.
As per usual, the entrance is a long pathway until this first main clearing. The guard at the south path, the one the party must travel upwards to reach the clearing, will provide the group with a piece of parchment and a quill for mapping out the floor. The other guards who guard the west, north, and east paths from the clearing will not move unless the group has this map with them.

Well, this job certainly seemed easy enough, or so Saya concluded to herself. All they had to do was map out the first floor, with materials provided by a guard they were to meet. If this were difficult, she would be downright shocked. Then again, she HAD heard horror stories from adventurers in the bar. About some powerful monsters that were on the first floor. That was certainly something to think about, to say the least, and the young Shogun realized that she couldn't afford to be cocky, not at all.
Not when her very life might be on the line. Right then? Saya was waiting in the labyrinth itself, right near the entrance to it, or exit, depending on one's perspective. If they were inside the labyrinth or outside of it. She was leaning on a tree near the entrance, waiting for the rest of her group to arrive. Was it intelligent to just go in ahead of them all? She didn't really care. It was just the first area of the dungeon.
Waiting right by it couldn't hurt anyone at all. The FOEs she had heard about didn't seem to be too present on these first few floors, so there was no chance of running into them. And the monsters? Again, she had never heard of them just standing around right by the entrance. So she waited. Maybe I'm early...? she wondered to herself; that fact was certainly a possibility.

Sounded like a pretty interesting mission, but on second thought they had to fight every monsters on this floor to make a complete map, which made drawing the map look like a piece of cake. Well the mission was issued by the queen, so the rewards would definitely be wroth the struggle of fighting those monsters. I got pretty lucky to get the last slot in this mission, so i better don't be late. Himeko always tried to arrive a little bit earlier than scheduled. Her father always told he it was the right thing and even if he basically forbid her to come back home until she had found what she was missing, Himeko never held a grudge against him. Ready for the adventure she arrived at the entrance of the labyrinth and looked around for the others members of exploration party. It took her a few moments until she noticed a small girl leaning by a tree. Wow she is pretty young. Maybe like twelve years old. What is she doing her? Himeko stared at the girl for a while until she noticed that the girl had a katana strapped to her waist. She usually wouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but if she would had to go into a dangerous labyrinth at this age she would definitely have clung to that tree at screamed that she wasn't going and that she wants to go back home. But again it was the queen that put that girl on the mission so she was okay with it. Himeko slowly approached Saya. "Hello. I am Himeko.", she now introduced herself to the girl. Hopefully she wouldn't notice that Himeko was still a bit skeptical. "Are you by any chance a member of the party that should map out the labyrinth?", she asked Saya. Himeko was never good a talking to well children or people who were a lot younger than here, but Saya was definitely cute and Himeko had an undeniable urge to hug and pet her, but it probably wasn't the best thing to do to a stranger. She looks so cute in her armor... Himeko shook her had and tried to focus again. It wasn't the time to think about that stuff.[/style][style=background-color: #7a606f; width: 355px; border-left: 5px solid #7a606f; border-right: 5px solid #7a606f; color: #a8a8a8; text-align: justify; font-family: tahoma; font-size: 10px; border-top: 1px dashed #ffa858; padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px;] words: 385 tags: Mission 1 notes: Skill Points remaining: 10 credits: ZETTA! of BTN[/style] |

Her eyes screwed shut as she scrunched up her face, sniffling. She had never been a morning person. Yet, here she was, taking a morning job. Snagging a spot on a mission like this though, one issued by the queen, she couldn't afford to miss something like this. With any luck it meant she'd be paid more for her work. Royalty was typically known to give generously.
Just because she was willing to wake up early didn't mean she was willing to spiff herself up for the little "event." Her hair was a mess of stray curls, flat spots, and awkward puff. It was pretty obvious she'd just scraped herself off the mattress and dragged herself over, especially from the sluggish way she moved. A haze lingered over her eyes as she watched the labyrinth from afar with a dull expression, making her way over. One figure she recognized. A short one standing right in the entryway. The loud little Saya, easy to pick out in most any adventure due to her unique... age. The pink head that approached her though was unfamiliar.
Grumpily, she twisted her lips, brows knitting over her eyes. She didn't feel like meeting new people. She didn't even feel like living right now. She just felt like sleeping. And, maybe, having a huge breakfast. Stopping not far behind the two she looked around for the others before glancing back to the pair just in time to see Himeko shake her head. Mercy had to blink at that, her eyes widening a moment. This little pink head was coming with them? She looked so...
"Hmm..." she hummed smoothly, doing her best to subtly fix her mess of hair. "She's kind of young for you, isn't she?" She was well aware she hadn't been looking at the girl in that way, but she couldn't help but joke. "I'm more in your age range." In some display of power she pulled her axe from its fastening and slammed its head into the earth, leaning on its grip and smiling at the girl. Extending a hand toward her she tilted her head. "Mercedes~ Are you coming with us?"

Another day, another mission to ruin for the young Shogun girl. But this time, Nanashi didn't plan on skulking around in the shadows, relying purely on tricks and misdirection. No, this time he planned on being by her side throughout the entire ordeal. A sneer crossed the Ninja's features as he headed along the path towards the Labyrinth, assuming that the other two joining Saya would be the Monk and the Medic. So, it came as a shock to him when it learned it was two entirely new people that he'd never met before. So, this little excursion would end up with him being surrounded by women, eh? It was certain an...interesting way to start the way.
Since he didn't have anything he particularly wished to share with the group, Nanashi opted to simply stand about ten feet away from them, using what he'd learned over the years to keep his movement completely silent. It was unlikely that any of the girls would notice him unless they physically glanced in his direction, in which case he'd drop to the ground while using one hand to keep him from smashing his chin onto the ground. Such a trick would probably be enough to keep the Ninja out of the two women's line of sight's, but Saya would probably be too short for him to escape her attention...

Hrm...this was disappointing.
Only two other people had shown up so far, and Saya had been expecting at least five people. These jobs usually weren't even marked as being ready to start until five people joined in. At least, that was the experience that she had so far, so where in the world were the other two? Saya bit her lip a little as she looked at the other females. One she recognized instantly, Mercy. The rather brash, young woman that had accompanied her on the pumpkin job. The other one?
She was completely unfamiliar to Saya, though that wasn't strange. There were quite a few adventurers arriving every day in the city, after all. It wouldn't be strange if she encountered a new person on every mission or quest she went on. At least, that was how she felt about it. "Yes, I am. My name is Saya. It's good to meet you," the Shogun gave her a kind smile. She certainly seemed respectful enough, and she had a certain air of authority that Saya only recognized because one day, she too would have to have that air of authority.
A Shogun was not only a fierce battler, but a ruler of their people, and sometimes, they had to have an iron will to do what had to be done. To discipline those beneath them. Though, right then, Saya didn't have to worry about that too much. And that...was when Mercy made that odd comment. "E-Eh? I...I don't think she was..." Saya trailed off, deciding to just let the matter drop. Clearly, she had overreacted, and Mercy had just been kidding. At least, Saya hoped she had been. It would be kind of strange if she had been serious in what she said just now. Saya gave the group another lookover, and even glanced towards the road to see if someone else might be coming when she spotted...him.
"Oh...not him," she facepalmed when she saw the ninja. Even f he did try to hide, she was indeed short enough to see him. "Looks like we're going to have a ninja accompanying us." the young female pointed at the figure known as Nanashi.

She really liked cheerful people and if they were cute like her she would be even more glad to be around her. Maybe taking on that mission wasn't so bad after all. It wasn't long until she noticed another person approaching them. Mercedes really looked liek she just fell out of her bed, but she probably was pretty strong, because she was wielding this big axe. Himeko blushed, when she heard her words and just looked away into the distance. "I wasn't hitting on her...", she just mumbled and tried to get rid of her slightly red cheeks. Himeko really didn't try that, but Saya was just so cute that she really wanted to get to know her better. Himeko briefly looked Mercedes over from head to toe. She seemed like a fine woman after all, but she really had to comb her hair before going out. Himeko being a princess wouldn't go out like that, but she also didn't really have an intrest into criticizing her. "Yes. I am Himeko and I got the last slot in this mission.". she just answered Mercy's question and finally regained her normal posture. That mission would be hard enough, just because it would be hard enough to focus on the battle with Saya and Mercedes around. The fourth person to arrive was a male ninja, who Himeko only noticed, because Saya pointed him out. She wasn't sure why he tried to hide from them, but he obvously failed to do so. Also Saya seemed to know him from somewhere. "We are still missing the fifth person right?", she now asked Saya and Mercy. If Nanashi really had to hide from them, Himeko wouldn't care, what he had to say or not. Hopefully the last person would show up fairly quickly, because that map wouldn't draw itself.[/style][style=background-color: #7a606f; width: 355px; border-left: 5px solid #7a606f; border-right: 5px solid #7a606f; color: #a8a8a8; text-align: justify; font-family: tahoma; font-size: 10px; border-top: 1px dashed #ffa858; padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px;] words: 309 tags: --- notes: --- credits: ZETTA! of BTN[/style] |

In fact, she hardly remembered that she was there at all. The blush that had spread across the Hime's face had stolen her attention completely. She had to laugh a bit, it was pretty amusing. Despite the fact the girl had cast her glance elsewhere, Mercy was determined to keep her gaze locked with hers, a rather confident smirk on her face. She didn't seem to be getting the joke, Mercy figured she'd just caught her off guard. Way off guard.
Finally her eyes were back on her. Mercy smiled sweetly in response, waiting. As she finally spoke again it sounded like her tone had evened, her shoulders squaring a bit as she regained her composure. It seemed the offered hand was just going to be left hanging, so she pulled it back, standing to lift her weight off of her axe and straighten up. The blade cut at the ground as she shifted her hand and pushed her arm forward, tilting her head to start glancing around again before hearing Saya pipe up. She looked to the girl before directing her attention to Nanashi, not quite so displeased to see him.
"Good, you made it." With the last of the group having yet to show she was starting to get the feeling they'd pulled out. They'd be needing all the help they could get for this. Her eyes fell to Himeko again as she thought, with any luck the girl was a decent leader. She wasn't looking forward to being expected to make the decisions. Again. "We are, but they're holding us up. It gets more dangerous when it's dark, so we need to start early." She glanced to the entrance of the labyrinth thoughtfully, having calmed considerably since having gotten her introduction to Himeko out of the way. "Don't you think?" Ah, so little Saya had seen him. Drat. Well, in that case there was no reason for him to try and hang back any longer...not that he would let the girl get away with ruining his entrance. The raven-haired man smiled down at the girl and replied, "It's good to see that my blushing bride is as attentive as always." He was sure that would set her off, or at the very least prepare a punchline for later. But if not, that wasn't much of a problem either. The statement was more for the benefit of the other two women.
With that out of the way, the Ninja let his shoulders sag a bit before sighing deeply. For whatever reason, his presence here felt...wrong somehow. He was sure that Saya would have agreed, but for an entirely different reason. It was difficult to tell just why he felt this way, but it was enough for him to drop his usual dismissive demeanor. He turned towards Mercy and closed his eyes, "The monsters are more dangerous at night, but there is less of a chance of running into a rival party. But the choice on how to proceed..."
He didn't bother opening his eyes again, having already looked over the party beforehand. Saya was surely willing to lead the party, but she was too young and inexperienced. Mercy didn't seem...'put together' enough to make a decent leader either. Nanashi himself couldn't lead, of course, as that was not a Ninja's way. That left... The man turned towards the Princess and opened his eyes again, glancing over her for a second time. Well dressed, regal appearance, good posture...the obvious choice. "...falls on you, Himeko." Nanashi's expression was a sullen one, although as he'd never met Himeko or Mercy before, Saya was likely the only one to pick up on his uncharacteristic severity.

Good, the pink-haired woman really hadn't been hitting on her. Or at least, she hadn't been intending to. It was a good thing to know, though Saya wondered if perhaps she should stop taking people so literally. Mercy had been kidding, Saya could see that now, and yet a small part of her had thought she had been serious. How silly! Of course she hadn't been serious, it was just her silly mind trying to think she had been. Pfft. Yeah, Saya would pay more attention in the future, that much was for certain. "Blushing...bridge? But I'm not blushing nor am I a bride. I...think it'd be ILLEGAL for me to be a bride, actually," Saya said to Nanashi. "I didn't know ninjas did illegal things to such an extent," she crossed her arms, staring at the man. Yeah, she really didn't like him that much at all. And now that she thought about it, she STILL didn't know his name. Hopefully, that would be remedied during the course of this mission.
Though it probably would not be, he seemed the type to not just give out his name freely like that. Then the talk came of what to do now. Wait for the last member of their party, or just head right in? Honestly, she preferred the latter, mostly because Nanashi was right. More powerful and dangerous monsters came out at night rather than during the day. Or at least, she thought they did, from the stories she had been told. Perhaps the people in the bar had simply been telling her stories to scare her, since she was still a little girl and all. "I think the right thing to do would be to just forget the last member. But it's up to you, Himeko." Saya said, offering the princess a smile.

She really wasn't used to normal people like this, because she had spent all her life among her kind of people, which were, well... they weren't so direct with their language. She just tried to be her normal self again and heard Nanashi's word about Saya being his 'bride'. Himeko wanted to marry Saya..., well not like now or even in a very distant future, but he just was so creepy that she wanted to protect Saya, who could probably do that herself a lot better. "Fine... I have been raised to lead a group of soldiers, but please follow my orders.", Himeko said and just began to march into the labyrinth. "Draw the map ninja.", she just said to Nanashi, because he was also fighting in the back and she would be busy 'leading' the party. She somehow felt great that they freely admitted that she was the first choice to lead the party. It made her fell confident. We can do this before it gets dark. Himeko looked over her shoulder. She would just step back, when they would encounter monsters. But now time for some small talk, while Nanashi probably was pretty busy drawing that map. "So Saya...are you from a family of shoguns?", Himeko now asked her and fell back a little bit just to walk right beside her. Finally continuing into the Labyrinth, the party found themselves at the main clearing. Hearing Himeko's order for Nanashi to draw the map, the guard stationed to give out parchment and quills fumbled around for a scrap of paper and a feather to give the ninja before he decided to slink away. The guard was used to ninja doing that sort of thing. So, he shoved the paper in his face, and went back to his usual stone cold demeanor.
The other three guards, seeing the actions of their fellow Mythraegalian guardsman stepped out of the way of the paths they were blocking. The party could now continue whichever way they wanted, and there was no fear of running into monsters in this clearing. Because of the guards' presence, it was probably the safest haven in the Labyrinth at the time.

The little girl's reaction only made the situation funnier, as she seemed to take him seriously, going a step further and assuming all ninjas married little kids. With a soft snort, she pulled her gaze back to Hime, who'd already begun blushing again.
She was glad to see her accept the position so easily, turning to follow after her as she started into the labyrinth. It was a little insulting that she didn't seem to think they were a good enough team for her to be leading, at least that was how Mercy understood what she had said, but she let it go easily. Looking beside her, expecting to see Himeko right there, she quirked a brow as she turned her head further, noticing she'd fallen back to speak with Saya. She was just going to be completely ignored? "Tsssssk," she hissed softly to herself, scratching the back of her head and craning her neck. She caught the guard shoving the paper toward her teammate and could only manage a huff. "Friendly group. This'll be fun." The Ninja's gaze slowly fell on the young Shogun after her outburst. Could she really be that naive...? "Saya...just what is it that you think Ninja do?" The answer, of course, was espionage and assassinations. Both of which were skills that Nanashi was fairly adept in. Really, taking a young girl as a lover; much less a bride would be the very least of his sins. Not that was he was interested, of course...
However, his thoughts were interrupted by having the parchment and mapping tools shoved in his face. He raised an eyebrow in amusement before taking them from the guard, quickly looking over everything before following behind the group, furiously scratching at the paper with the quill, dipping it back into the ink every so often. Really, assigning him the duty of making a map? It was as though they wanted the mission to fail. Instead of cartography, Nanashi was actually drawing a picture. The lines were a bit thick and jagged since his hand was jostled with every step, but the picture looked well enough. It was a depiction of the group, with Saya standing off to the right, hands on her hips while yelling upwards to a flushed Hemiko that was yelling back, with Mercy standing off to the left, watching the pair with an amused smile.
It wasn't as though he wasn't really doing his job, though. His mind was sharp enough that he could draw the map from memory at a later time, but doing it this way meant that he was vital to the mission's success. Which meant that, in the event of an emergency, the one to benefit most from the group's protection would be himself. Many might scoff at his plan, especially considering that he was the sole male in a group of women...but such a thing didn't bother Nanashi. All that mattered as that he lived to see the end of the day, which meant making himself as unexpendable as possible.
