A new town, new sights to see and all of that fun stuff! Or at least, that was what she WANTED to think. But all she could think about was how much her stomach was complaining right then. A ship. She had been on a ship for the last...she wasn't sure. Week? Two weeks? She had lost track of time, and all she knew was that she was very, very sick. Seasick, to be specific. And she had to find a room at the inn fast before she threw up in the middle of the street.
Or worse, before she threw up all over the poor innkeeper, if she did manage to get inside the inn. She just...couldn't find it. Somehow she managed to hold in her sickness long enough to ask for directions, and soon the young teen was rushing towards the inn. She needed a room. Then she needed to find a bathroom of some kind where she could throw up without worry of someone walking right in on her. Or rather, without worry of she throwing up on someone.
Unfortunately, she did not last long.
She just reached the door of the inn, and had it half open when it happened.
She felt the urge come over her, and embarrassingly enough, both anyone passing by AND anyone inside the inn would see the poor girl puking the contents of her stomach out.
...This was not a very heroic arrival.

Ethan had arrived in Mythraegal a few days ago and was still taking time to fully explore the city. He’d gotten a room at the inn upon his arrival and was currently getting ready for another day of familiarizing himself with the town. He couldn’t believe he still hadn’t seen everything there was to see, and he hadn’t even ventured near the labyrinth yet.
Getting dressed, he threw his satchel full of supplies over his shoulder (you can never be to prepared) and walked out of his room and down the stairs to the main room. There seemed to be some excitement today though, as a young girl he had never seen before was…puking in the doorway. He paused on the stairway for a moment, observing the scene, before rushing over in full medical mode.
”Are you all right? Gosh.” He took hold of her shoulder and turned her so she wasn’t facing inside. He didn’t think the innkeeper would appreciate mass amounts of vomit on his floor.
When she finished emptying the contents of her stomach, Ethan rummaged around in his bag, pulling out a bottle of milky blue liquid. “Here,” he said, holding it out towards her. “Drink this. It’ll calm your stomach.”

The Ninja hadn't been in town for very long- he'd only arrived himself a few hours prior to finding an inn to spend the night in. Of course, it wasn't until he'd spoken with the innkeeper that he realized he had no money. At all. The youth couldn't help but chuckle when the innkeeper told him to beat it, but because he was plotting anything for the innkeeper's future but merely because he hadn't thought about money at all during his trip. Nanashi should have realized that he couldn't just mooch off others forever- although stowing away wasn't nearly as bad as he'd thought it would be. After the innkeeper finished giving him the stink eye, he merely shrugged it off and turned to leave, moving towards the exit at a reasonable pace... When he saw the door to the inn start to open, he didn't think much of it...but in keeping with his legendary luck, of course there was a seasick girl on the other end of it. He watched her vomit at his feet with an eyebrow raised in amusement- even though the flecks of bile on his shoes were rather...unsavory, he couldn't help but be amused. His head dropped to the side slightly, his expression giving nothing away aside from a slight bemused smile... ”Are you all right? Gosh.”
Nanashi stepped back to let the person approaching him from behind through so that he could attend to the girl. Throughout the ordeal he hadn't said a word, although he was definitely laughing on the inside. At the girl, of course, and most certainly not with her.

Oh god she hoped she wasn't going to be puking for a long time. Already she could feel her cheeks getting flushed, both due to the puking and the embarrassment she was feeling at having so many people seeing her like this. She was going to be an adventurer, a hero, and yet here she was, puking! And the first day wasn't even over yet. It was nearly enough to make her just go straight back home. But...no, she had a duty to help these people, even if they didn't have a high opinion of her after this.
But...wait, a boy had shown up. He was holding her shoulder gently, and facing her towards the outside of the inn. The next instant a milky blue liquid was in her face and not for one second did she mistrust him. Not once did she think he might be some kind of odd person trying to drug her. No, she snatched that liquid and drank it as directed. He looked like some kind of doctor, so that was probably why she trusted him.
True to his word, several minutes later her stomach finally seemed to be settled down. "I...thank you. You stopped me from embarrassing myself even more," she said her gratitude to him, a smile on her face.
Then she looked towards the man that was right by the door. Of course she hadn't noticed him before, she had been too busy puking. But now she noticed the puke on his shoes. She gave him a deep bow. "I apologize." she stated simply, solemnly.

Ethan sighed, relieved, when Saya took the medicine from him. He was even more relieved to see that it worked. It hadn’t exactly been thoroughly tested…but it was perfectly safe. At the worst, it just wouldn’t have done anything. But her puking stopped and she thanked him.
Another person had joined them in the doorway and Ethan to look. Another person he hadn’t seen before. “Oh, um…hi.” The guy was just standing there, not saying anything while Saya apologized for the mess on his shoes. “So…I haven’t seen either of you around before. Not that I’ve been here all that long myself but…I’m Ethan. What are your names?”
He kept one eye on Saya the whole time, making sure she wouldn’t regress into another bout of sickness. She looked fine, but he wanted to be sure. Plus, Nanashi made him a bit nervous. He’d been there the whole time apparently if he had Saya’s puke on his shoes, but he hadn’t said or done anything and Ethan hadn’t even noticed him. Still, he was probably just over thinking things, so he put on his best smile and tried not to act perturbed.

Nanashi watched the two intently as they interacted, although he still opted to stay out of it at that moment in time. It wasn't until after he was finally given attention that he decided to make his move. He completely ignored the boy and approached the girl, stopping about two feet from her and slipped his left hand into the pocket on that side of his pants. There were two reasons why he'd ignored the boy: Firstly, he didn't want to take the chance that the girl might somehow escape while Nanashi was distracted and secondly, he had no name. 'Nanashi' roughly translated to 'Thing without a name'. He was meant to choose a name for himself when he took over the Clan, but that never happened. Still, none of that was particularly relevant to his business with the girl...
"I'm afraid...that I can't accept your apology as easily as that." He kept his expression level, and purposely slowed down his speech so that each word was as clear as he could make it. Before continuing, he pointed over his shoulder with his right thumb, motioning towards the inn's second floor where the rooms were, "Allow me to spend the night with you. It will cost you nothing, as we only need the one bed." He'd meant to stop talking there, but he realized that what he said might be misconstrued so he attempted to clarify his intention with an explanation. Nanashi tilted his head slightly to the side and offered the same small smirk that he'd worn when the girl puked on him, "I have no money, you see. So it's difficult for me to afford something like this, despite how...vital it is for these needs to be met. Surely if you are truly sorry, you won't object to showing an old man this one small kindness."

Saya had to be honest, this Ethan guy seemed to be the nicer of the two here. She was just beginning to piece together the fact that this other guy had just been standing there while she had been puking like that. And besides that was the fact that if he had really wanted his shoes to not get puked on, all he would have had to do was take one step back.
But no, for some reason he had just stood in that same spot. "I-I'm new in town. Just off the boat...which is the reason for that unfortunate incident just now. But I assure you, I don't get sick that often," Saya said to the boy called Ethan. At least he was telling his name up front like this, offering it even! She would be remiss if she didn't return the favor. "I am Saya," the thirteen year old informed him, before glancing to the other guy.
Uh-huh...he thought she was obligated to pay for his lodging. "Two problems. One, I don't see you in that light, so it'd be impossible for us to share a bed. Two, while it isn't honorable to not fully apologize to someone, the greater good demands that I keep enough money to pay for adequate lodgings in the town, so that I might eliminate the monsters that dwell in the Labyrinth more easily due to better rest," she said matter of factly to him.
"...and besides, you aren't old. My grandpa is old, but not you."

“Saya,” Ethan said, testing it out. “Well it’s nice to meet you. And I’m glad to hear this is out of the ordinary for you.”
He looked towards Nanashi, but the man didn’t say anything to him, not even introducing himself. He did speak to Saya though. Ethan’s eyes widened and his cheeks flushed as he asked to spend the night in Saya’s bed. He opened his mouth to speak, outraged at the suggestion. She was just a kid! Luckily for Nanashi though, he clarified before Ethan could say anything incriminating. Still…it wasn’t proper, what he was aking.
Saya had taken it more in stride than he apparently, as she calmly replied to and rejected him. The red gradually left his face as his embarrassment faded and his lips quirked a smile a bit at Saya’s insistence that Nanashi wasn’t old.
“If you can’t afford lodgings, there’s always opportunities with the Explorer’s Guild. I haven’t done anything for them yet, but I hear they pay pretty well.”

Nanashi hesitated for a moment before chuckling quietly. He hadn't planned on sharing the bed with her, he'd intended to sit in the corner and sleep there- but no matter, she already turned him down and insulted him to boot. His only response was, "Ah, but age isn't just chronological, for instance, you...." He let his sentence trail off before turning his attention to the other youth, "Working for money? That's an idea, I suppose...although not one worthy of someone of my stature." He didn't mean anything by the comment- In truth, Nanashi considered a Ninja to be pretty low down on the list of 'respectable professions', but he was sure that the statement would rile up the girl, which is why he made it.
The man turned away from the pair and started to slowly walk towards the exit while offering one last acknowledgement, "But you did give me an excellent idea. Adventurers returning from the Labyrinth are sure to be worn out from so many battles, and then having to carry all that treasure around...how unfortunate that such brave souls should have to suffer so much. If only there were someone to relieve them of such a heavy burden..." When he finally reached the door, he turned back to glance at them over his shoulder and flashed them a wide smile, "I suppose I should give you some credit, as I don't think I could have come up with such a plan on my own. If I get something good, I'll be sure to share it with you." The Ninja snickered before walking out the door.

"Pleasure to meet you too, Ethan! I just wish it could've been under better circumstances," Saya told him brightly. despite how she acted sometimes, such as being just, honorable, and all of that, she was still quite a kind girl and not one to let a guise cover her at all times.
For instance, right then, she was mostly showing her emotions because of the puking that had just gone on. It took effort to keep a mask on, after all. And her effort had been somewhat...drained by the fact that just minutes ago she had been puking her guts out. Saya then turned her attention to the male that had...propositioned her. She shuddered to think what he had thought was going to happen. What he said confused her; someone of his stature?
She wasn't even sure what his stature WAS. So she didn't think much of his comment, at least until his last words were spoken. For a few moments she stood there, then with a glance towards Ethan, she rushed off after this guy. Even if no one was going to help her in stopping him, as there was no guarantee Ethan would help, she couldn't just let him do as he wished. The sound of a katana sliding out of its scabbard echoed through the room, and then she opened the door.
The man was in sight, and she held her katana before her. Saya was not adverse to spilling this man's blood if it meant that the lives of a great many people would go on without his unneeded interference. "You will not be relieving adventurers of their possessions. In the name and honor of all shoguns, I vow to strike you down should I see you committing such an act." Saya warned him solemnly. She might be young, but that didn't belie the fierce look her eyes had in them.

Ethan didn’t realize how his suggestion had been taken until Saya had rushed after Nanashi and drawn her sword. What? With a sigh, he took off after her. Yeah he didn’t like that Nanashi had taken his suggestion about the Explorer’s Guild to mean that he could go rob everyone, but it was too much trouble to get upset about it. People were going to do what they wanted, and it was rarely worth it to try and stop them.
Still, he didn’t want to see Saya hurt. For all Ethan knew, that sword was just for show and she was bluffing. She was awfully young after all and Nanashi could most likely hold his own in a fight as well. If nothing else, he would stand back and pull Saya away should the situation become more hazardous. He would do the same for Nanashi, but he was currently underestimating Saya, not thinking the little girl would be able to do much damage to the older man.

Nanashi snickered at the young girl, "What do you plan to do with that toothpick? Clean my teeth?" He was acutely aware of the irony of his words, considering that the kunai he wielded were closer to a toothpick than the girl's blade, but saying that wouldn't rile up the girl, now would it? But something that she'd said caught his attention; that being the mention of the Shoguns. The Ninja wasn't intimately familiar with them, but he knew a bit about them. In a sense, they were an ideal ninja's polar opposite. Where a Ninja relied on stealth, cunning, and deception, the Shoguns tended to be loud, brash, and forthcoming. In essence, they were everything that Nanashi hated most wrapped up into one tiny pint-sized bundle. At least, this one was.
Still, she wanted a fight, so it would be rude for him not to oblige. He glanced over her form from top to bottom quickly, taking note of a few vitals that her stance was leaving unguarded while slipping his hand into the black jacket that adorned his chest to draw a weapon. "You have a very nice body, by the way. It's a shame that it'll be marred by the many injuries and scars that you'll sustain in this line of work. Well, you know..." His smile widened as the Ninja wrapped his hand around the kunai before forming a seal with the same hand, "...assuming that you live that long." With that, the Ninja vanished from sight...and reappeared directly behind the girl with one hand on top of her head and the other holding a kunai to her jugular.
Keburi no Sue. A technique developed to allow the user to fight from full strength at a distance. Well, that was the usual application of such a technique. But Nanashi had found the very concept of such a thing to be boring beyond imagining, so he redeveloped the technique into allowing him to get right in the action, so that he may attack personally. A much more exciting version of the original technique, although it's end purpose was the same. "Dead." He looked down at the top of her head and smiled, "There are actually five different vitals that I could have struck from this position, you know." He tapped the inside of her right shoe with his own foot, "Spread your legs and lean your chest forward a bit so that your center of gravity is brought lower, then hold your sword to the side at a slight diagonal towards your stronger hand. Then there would only be two exposed areas, and one of which would force me to overextend slightly if I were to go for it." He pat her on the head a couple of times, waiting to see if she'd take his advice or not.

Time stopped as she kept her gaze close on this guy. Of course she expected something sneaky, considering he had no visible weapons yet he had stopped, seemingly to accept her challenge and fight her. Saya was not going to be loud and boisterous, not right then. Not ever, actually. No, she was going to keep an intense amount of concentration on the man before her, to make sure he did not get out of her sight for even a second.
Because a second in a battle might as well be a minute, innumerable mistakes could happen during a second. "It's not a toothpick, and I am positive you're well aware of that," she said harshly to him, not willing to allow him to bait her into getting angry. That would cloud her judgement in the coming battle, and that was not something that she needed right then. "And...you're also a big damned pervert," it usually was not in her personality to swear, but she felt she had to if he was making such lewd comments.
Especially considering he was older than her, by a bit too. Of course she was going to comment on it. And then he made some kind of motion and...disappeared? No, that was not it. He was not in her visible sight radius at all, and that indicated to her that he had appeared behind her somewhere. That, or he had chosen to just flee. But if he had, the worst case scenario was that she turned around and slashed at nothing.
Or...wait, no, she might accidentally cut Ethan, then. "Hmph. Stupid. I know that, all of that. But when facing an opponent, it's sometimes good to let a weak spot be exposed. And you exposed your weak spot by making it known what you specialize in," he was a ninja, that much was obvious. "All I have to do from this position is swing my katana back or up and I'll be able to hit you with the blade."
Granted, he could try to cut her jugular if she did that.
But the girl was confident she was faster than that. And besides...she WAS fully decked out in armor. It'd take a moment for his kunai to pass through armor, now wouldn't it?

Ethan hung back, debating with himself while Saya and Nanashi exchanged words. Should he interfere? Saya could handle herself surely. Why else would she be picking fights? But she’s so young! He visibly flinched as Nanashi vanished into thin air, only to reappear behind Saya while holding a kunai to her throat.
“Wait…” He stepped forward, but Nanashi hadn’t had any ill intentions after all it seemed, as he explained the weakness of her position and then patted her on the head. Ethan sighed, relieved.
That feeling didn’t last long though as Saya explained how she wasn’t fully helpless. Is she really going to try and attack him? Come on, Saya…
“Saya,” he started, “and…whoever you are, please don’t fight. This isn’t a big deal. I’m sure it can all be resolved.” There was a sliver of desperation in his voice. He really hated to see people fight. Sure, violence meant he had patients which meant he had money, but that didn’t mean he liked it.

Nanashi glanced back at the Healer for a moment, flashing him a smile, "I'm afraid that your suggestion may go unheeded." The Ninja slipped the weapon back into his clothes and let his shoulders fall a bit, "I have no interest in fighting at the moment, but this girl..." He reached down and ruffled her hair again, snickering softly, "She fancies herself as a bit of a hero, I imagine. Probably a delusion of grandeur, but it's more likely that someone else in her family was an adventurer and she wanted to succeed where they failed." It took the Ninja a moment to realize what he'd just said. He placed a hand on his forehead and tilted his head back slightly, laughing like a madman. Although it wasn't apparent to the other two, he only now realized that the reason he made the 'older brother' comment was because of how much this girl reminded him of his sister...
The raven-haired man had his back to Saya at this point, but he was still keeping tabs on her- although he wouldn't have made an attempt to avoid an attack if she did decide to last out at him. When the laughter finally died down, he'd shrug towards Ethan, "That wasn't a joke, though. You should an eye on her, if only because she can't be trusted to look out for herself. At least not yet. Attacking random travelers who've done nothing but give compliments and forgiveness for past transgressions can't be good for one's health." There was a lot left out of that description of the events that had occurred, but he didn't feel the need to expand on them- after all, both the girl and the other man had been present at the time they happened.
