It would have been nice not to alert the other creatures of the labyrinth of their presence. While she was half tempted to shush her, she remained quiet. It'd only make things worse to make a big deal of it. As the little girl went on about it not being funny Mercy simply shook her head. "Trying to be funny," she murmured under her breath. She had to agree. If it was a joke, it wasn't funny. Just stupid. Getting in the way of her work was stupid.
As she moved to enter the labyrinth the girl had started her shouting again. At least this time she was encouraging the group to get a move on rather than contribute to all the piddling around. She could hear what sounded to be monsters making their way toward them. Sticking around just wasn't an option right now. It'd be a waste of time, blood, and energy to fight them off.
Even within the labyrinth, she didn't bother looking back. She tapped her axe on her shoulder thoughtfully, keeping her eyes dead ahead and listening closely as she tried to adjust to the darkness. She could hear the rushing water of the river, but it was the floral scent that caught her attention. Her eyes slowly wandered west as she thought. Flowers meant plenty of light and rich soil... plants liked that, right?
At Elias' voice she turned her head to watch him before allowing her gaze to travel the length of his arm and look toward the eastern path. She blinked as she considered what he said, nodding lightly. "Pumpkins grow by rivers?" Her eyes wandered to the west again. She didn't know, honestly. The wet soil may not be good for them. The growling and screeching continues even as the party moves through the Labyrinth. While further away now, one can still hear them try to move closer and closer. For Nanashi, who had already chosen his path, the angered sounds were louder than for the rest of the party. It was a surprise he hadn't run into anything by now. Also, Nanashi would get the feeling like something was following him, but if he turned around, there would be nothing there...
The party, on the other hand, would not feel this presence and would be able to make their decision before the monster voices caught up any further.

"East," Saya spoke up, glancing around at her teammates before focusing on Mercy. The woman, had after all, been the one to want to go to the west, the direct opposite of east. It would be best to convince her that the best route to go to find the pumpkins would be to go to the east. "Pumpkins grow, yes? They need water just like any other fruit or vegetable. Water and sunlight. I think the odds of finding water are higher by taking the eastern path, rather than the western one," she said to them, before glancing back the way they came. The monsters weren't close enough to make their decision a drastic one, one that needed to be made quickly, but the monsters were certainly something to keep in mind, the young Shogun realized that much.
Saya wasn't worried about pushing the group for a decision, though she wouldn't be adverse to doing so if she had to. "It's your call though. You seem like you know what you're doing." Saya added, in an attempt to keep her calm if she felt like her authority was being usurped, and she even gave a smile for added effect. Effectively, Saya was saying she seemed like a good leader.

The sound of the rampaging monsters was a bit...disconcerting, to say the least, but the Ninja remained nonplussed. What had likely been hundreds of adventurers had passed through this section of the dungeon unscathed- maybe even thousands or more. Since this was the case, surely there couldn't be much to fear on the upper floors, even in force. That did lead to a curious observation, however. If these upper areas were so well-traveled, then where did all of the monsters come from? Even if they did breed rapidly, it still seems a bit excessive...
Nanashi pushed the thought of his head, preferring to turn the bulk of his attention towards the presence he felt. Being well versed in the art of stealth himself, even if he rarely used those skills to their fullest, he was fairly certain that something was watching him from the shadows...but even that he shrugged off. He couldn't locate the mystery presence at a glance, so there was no point in devoting any significant amount of time to tracking it down- if it was relevant to his goal, then it would show itself in due time. If not, then he needn't get himself worked up over it.
As he continued traveling towards the North, a vision invaded his thoughts; of him lying in a clearing, bloody and battered while the Shogun and friends rushed to his side- not out of concern, but out of curiosity...and that was when they were ambushed by a great beast. The thought brought a smile to his lips- the entire concept was fairly amusing, although exceptionally unlikely. It was mere displacement- he'd heard a story similar to that one as a child, although the specifics escaped him.

He frowned when he saw Mercy sneering at Saya. Maybe the girl was a bit loud, but at least she was trying to rally the team. Though it didn't show on his face , he was still a bit miffed at Mercy's earlier words.
He brightened up at bit when Saya spoke up again.
"Exactly." He motioned with his sword hand again. "Even if they aren't right on the river, they should be near water."
He took a step in the direction of the river, and glanced back at Mercy and Saya. "We headed out, or do you have another plan?" Although it pained him to admit it, Mercy did seem to be the group's leader.

So she thought east too? Mercy gave a light nod, eyeing the path again. She remained silent as she explained her thinking, though there really wasn't any need for her too. Mercy was hardly going to push anyone to agree with her, she was fine with following whichever path they thought was best. Still, she'd wanted to contribute something. "Mm..." She reached an arm back to scratch her head and ruffle her long curls. She had to wonder if the girl had even considered there might be a reason why she had said east. Flowers grew too, after all, meaning there had to be water to the west as well. A river could possibly mean a dead end. With the monsters rushing up behind them, it was risky.
Her focus shifted back down to Saya as she commented on how it seemed like she knew what she was doing. Her arm dropped to her side, hand propping itself on her hip. Mercy had absolutely no clue what she was doing. She hated leading. These other two just didn't seem to suit the job any better than she did, unfortunately. She didn't want this authority. Her expression remained blank as she didn't want to betray just what little the title of "leader" meant to her, but as she prepared to move east she heard another voice. Elias'.
Her eyes followed as he motioned toward the path she was just about to head down. Her eyes shot to his feet as he moved toward it before moving back up to his face, a single brow arching over her gaze. She couldn't tell if he was uncertain or just being a smartass. Her bored expression returned, if somewhat grumpier now. "Guess it's East." With that she turned and started off again, falling silent. The party had finally made their decision to go East, and unknowingly avoiding Nanashi. They would notice the sound of monsters finally dying down, and hearing a scared whimper or two along the way as well. If anything, it sounded like they were fleeing from something. Maybe it was the Explorers, or something else.
However, after beginning to travel down the path, the Explorers would spot a Gigapede, battered up and out of place as if it had ran up to this floor after being chased by some predator. As it is tending to its wounds, the party will get a preemptive strike against the beast!
Nanashi on the other hand, as he travels along, again he will feel a strange presence behind him, closer than before as if something was breathing down his throat. If he turns around this time, he will see what appears to be three blue pumpkins growing out of a thorny bush along the side of the path. Two of the pumpkins are small, perhaps not big enough for a pie, but the one in the center looks big and ripe. Of course, the pumpkins are covered in thorny vines so it may be difficult to get them out.

Saya noticed the frown Elias had, and she couldn't help but wonder what he was so upset about. All things considered, this quest was going rather smoothly. Sure, there were only three of them, but that was not something they could really help at all. They were making the best of it. And sure, while Mercy wasn't exactly the best leader, Saya didn't really want to lead. She knew she was far too young and inexperienced to take up the reigns, and Elias...well, she wasn't sure how well he'd do at leading. But between the two of them, she felt Mercy would do a better job of it.
And besides that, she seemed pleasant enough. At least, that was how Saya felt. Certainly not as mean as that stupid boy she had met the other day. "You seem a little bummed, Mercy," Saya commentated as they went East, a frown on her face. While she was not the leader, it was still definitely her job to make sure her companions were okay. "You're not all that energetic 'bout this, I think," the little girl added thoughtfully, watching Mercy closely so that the woman couldn't just wave it off.
That was when they came across the Gigapede, and instinctively Saya's sword was out, pointed towards the beast, though it seemed to not notice them, somehow. "Should we attack?" she asked.

It was certain, then. Whatever fan that the Ninja had picked up wasn't of the talkative sort. He traveled along the path for a bit longer, his hands stuffed into his pockets while keeping his back hunched over in a strange stance. The trip was a bit unnerving, even for him, what with feeling like some monster was standing mere inches behind him, waiting for him to drop his guard so that it may pounce...
But! Nanashi wasn't worried. The chance of the stalker being an FOE was nil, which meant there was nothing to be worried about. Any enemy that couldn't be slain could just be pinned down by his skills long enough to slink away, which would buy him enough time to either lead it to the party or bring them to it. Still... Nanashi let a kunai slip out of his sleeve, snatching it up before suddenly twisting his upper body and flinging the kunai towards the mysterious presence...only for the small knife to land in the dirt.
The Ninja's eyes moved up from where the kunai came to a rest; spotting the strange blue pumpkins. He raised an eyebrow in amusement. Those almost certainly weren't there before...but even if they had been, it was far too convenient. A trap? But this was only the first floor of the Labyrinth. As far as he knew, there were no monsters with either the intelligence to plan an ambush, nor was there one that had the skill to create an illusion- if that was what these pumpkins were. Another group of Explorers, then? Maybe it was the one who usually got these pumpkins, having come up with the excuse of an injured leg so that he could mug some unsuspecting Explorer. Joke's on him though, since Nanashi was as broke as a shattered window.
He let out a loud exhale and smirked slightly, calling out to noone in particular, "Cute. Feel free to come out now, since I've already seen through your trick." Even if he was wrong and the situation really was just a coincidence, then there would be nobody around to hear his accusation. But if there was...well, then he was right after all. Either way, win for him.

Once the party reached some sort of consensus, Elias trudged after Mercy. Though the women seemed uncertain of her own leadership abilities, she certainly matched the teenager’s view of what a leader was like—though Saya did seem to be doing an excellent job of being a diplomat—leaving Elias as the weak link of the party. Elias pushed it out of his mind. He hadn’t signed up as a meat shield, not as a leader or a diplomat. It wasn’t his fault they hadn’t run into anything to beat the living crap out of him. Really.
Elias paused to consider this.
He remained silent while Saya asked Mercy how she was feeling. Elias almost piped up as well, but remembered that he’d just spent the last five minutes being extremely passive-aggressive. He probably shouldn’t throw off anymore mixed signals. Probably best just to sulk in the metaphorical corner. No wait…
Mercifully, a gigapede showed up, allowing Elias to disembark from his embarrassing train of thought. He raised his shield, and threw a glance back at Saya, “I’ll cover you—you both,” he glanced back at Mercy, “Be careful, though. A wounded beast still has claws.”
To him it seemed obvious to attack the gigapede. Though it hadn’t reacted to them yet, it was still a dangerous creature even if it was injured. Besides, an injured creature wouldn’t survive long in the Labyrinth; it might be best to put the thing out of its misery.

(Mercy has been skipped for this round, continue on as usual with Saya)
At Nanashi's exclamation, there was no reply. At least, not a vocal reply. At the sound of the Ninja's voice, the bushes and trees started rustling, first slowly, but then the rustling started getting louder. And then, the rustling around Nanashi stopped, but the bush by the blue pumpkins continued. The thorny vines unraveled themselves and twisted up into a single mass. The small pumpkins were lifted up by two thick vines and the large one balanced up on the thick end of the thorny mass of vines. The pumpkins turned around to reveal the angry faces carved into their blue flesh. The faces stayed still for a moment, but then the three sets of carved eyes narrowed, and widened again seeing Nanashi. The pumpkin creature, the Trigourd, roared.
As for the other half of the group, as they continued to stall with the Gigapede, the creature finally noticed the group. For a moment it stood still, considering what to do. With its injuries, the Gigapede figured it wouldn't be able to take the Explorers on in a one on one fight. So, it stood up on its back sets of legs and was about to turn the other way to run. Before it could though, something sprung out of the bushes and crunched off the head of the giant Gigapede. The rest of the insect's body fell to the Labyrinth floor as the green, pumpkin headed creature floated above it. Then, with its thorny vine claws, the grinning Flygourd picked up the rest of the Gigapede and continued to munch on the creature's body. It seemed too preoccupied to deal with the party right now, but once it was finished with its meal...

Right, there was no other option but to attack the beast. To be honest, she felt a little sad for the thing. There it was, wounded and struggling to survive, with nearly no chance of surviving should they choose to attack. Yet at the same time, it was doubtful that it would just let them go walking past. A shame, but it had to be done. However, before she could even think of sinking her blade into its flesh, something much stronger, at least it seemed stronger, came along, easily crushing the Gigapede and before long, consuming it. Saya couldn't help but glance to her companions nervously before looking back at the creature before her. She couldn't falter, not right then.
Odds were if they tried to run, it would pursue them, and Saya did not think they would be capable of outrunning it. Not anything like that at all. And yet it seemed so strong, it was doubtful that attacking it would do much. Saya had never even heard of monsters like this before, ones that looked like pumpkins, but there was no time to worry about that. At any moment, it was going to finish its meal and turn on them next. "Elias, be careful!" she exclaimed to the male, trusting Mercy to be careful too before she rushed forward, blade drawn. she was afraid and scared, yes.
Scared that she might end up like her mother and father. But she had to try her best. The girl could not run away from a fight, because that would be dishonorable and more importantly, a Shogun never ran from something. They confronted problems head-on.
So she did, and swung her blade towards the beast.
